Richard Yap graduated from De La Salle University and aspired to be a chef as a child but eventually worked for a furniture company as a Division Manager based in Cebu for 22 years until the showbiz world shook his corporate world.
But despite his fame as an actor and the behemoth of endorsement deals that continuously pour his way, Richard is still a businessman by heart. Armed with his natural business acumen, he dabbles alongside showbiz his being an entrepreneur.
He partnered with friends to establish Wang Fu Restaurant, which specializes in Chinese cuisine and has more than 4 branches already. For Wang Fu he focuses on the marketing and leasing part.
Aside from being a restaurateur, he came back to being a division manager of a leading brand of American-made office furniture Cole & Ash after his former colleagues in a company that deal with similar products egged him relentlessly to start the same business.
Cole and Ash (named after his two kids Dylan Cole and Ashley Sandrine) is a trading company engaged in the distribution, supply, and installation of office systems, flooring, and storage, among others where he is very hands-on on its day-to-day operations.
